This is one of my all time favourite films for its portrayal of how easily a set of events can spiral out of control, with such comic stupidity that one really couldn’t imagine how such petty things could lead to total distraction. Personally, I could watch those mushrooms bloom all evening, with awe and fascination. Such destructive power beyond the imaginings of previous generations. And Peter Sellers is of course brilliant, playing his part totally straight with hilarious effect which all led into such classics as damnation alley etc the aftermath.
