It kind of makes sense to open tent pole blockbusters in March since it precedes the biggest TV events of the year (Playoffs, Superbowl, Globes, Grammys, Oscars) that they can advertise one.

Agree with just about everything in this review.

    A couple of things:

When I saw this film, it was projected out of focus, which made it impossibly blurry and painful to watch. I saw it two days ago and my eyes still hurt. A friend who saw it in a different theatre (on the opposite side of the continent!) had the same exact problem. Anybody else experience something similar?

I wonder if fatigue for 3d movies from general audiences did something to hurt this film? Most 3d and blockbuster films now look pretty much the same as each other (I’d be hard-pressed to tell this apart from the aesthetic in Prince of Persia, Clash of the Titans 3d, etc).

Otherwise, the “it looks shit” comments I hear from friends and colleagues seems to come down to the fact that its not based on a 1980s tvshow/cereal/videogame/boardgame/tradingcards.
