Only six minutes shy of your 1999 episode!

Any chance we can start getting timestamps for these in the future so we know when you start talking about each movie.

Or at least have the movies listed in order?

    Thanks!

I know that timestamps would be nice–I would certainly appreciate them were I in your shoes–but it’s frankly too time-consuming for what are supposed to be bonus episodes.

The movies are generally listed in order but it’s based on the order we intended to talk about them and sometimes things change in the moment. I know this one’s off a bit but most of the time they’re correct.

      Thanks for listening!

Wholeheartedly agree with your takes on Hail, Caesar! The Coens, IMO anyway, really didn’t like too many of the characters in Burn After Reading. I just rewatched it on Netflix, and hoo-boy is everyone involved a fuckin’ shark who gets what they deserve! Except for poor old Richard Jenkins, who dies, and Frances McDormand, who gets exactly what she wants.

Black Hat is pretty bad Mann, IMO. The action is pretty shitty, the dialogue is worse, and the plot is kinda who-cares? I dunno, for me Mann peaked with Collateral and Miami Vice (the director’s cut). Public Enemies is ok, but…thin?

Tyler mentioned Kingdom of Heaven. You guys need to watch the director’s cut. I can confidently say it is the only film I’ve seen released in the past 30 years which qualifies as “epic.” Orlando Bloom is not much of a presence, but that is only because he is the audience cipher to examine the much larger personalities.

I’m totally with Tyler on The Jungle Book. Though I loved the movie, that song not only didn’t fit the character, but it was wildly out of place in a movie that was 95% song free. Either be a musical or don’t. Pick a lane.

If you want to see more empowering Barbara Stanwyck check out The Strange Love of Martha Ivers, and Forty Guns.
