I recall seeing on Mubi a Spanish-language Funny Games from 2008. It’s not very good.

    David,

The report that Milo was going to out undocumented students at UC Berkeley was a rumor, what we’d call “fake news.”
So was the report that he outed a trans-student.
So was the report that he encouraged his Twitter followers to attack Leslie Jones. (If anything Leslie Jones was the one being racist and encouraging her followers to go after other Twitter users.)

From now on, whenever you hear a news item which excites your ideologically motivated confirmation bias, just think to yourself “is this BS?”

I apologize if that response was sounded condescending.

I can’t believe you’re gonna mince words with me about a hateful piece of shit like Milo Yiannopoulos. When he singles someone out like he did with Leslie Jones or with the Milwaukee woman, whose picture he put on the screen and repeatedly referred to as a man, he may not literally be telling his audience to attack them but it’s clear what he’s doing and you’d have to be a fucking idiot or just willfully obtuse not to see it.

That said, though, you’re right about the first part. The Breitbart article that detailed Yiannopoulos’ intentions before the speech focused on faculty that support undocumented students but did not mention plans to name names. I jumped to conclusions based on his past behavior.

I second that emotion for The Light Between Oceans.

I’m just gonna sit here resenting Tyler’s Twilight comments. Yes, those movies are cheesy as hell (though there are some legitimately worthwhile moments to be found), but goddam if the last one isn’t a big giant hunk of batshit crazy fun (you could even call it ambitious).

You guys are right that we’re unlikely to be exposed to a film like Moonlight via Red Letter Media… but don’t assume that’s the ONLY place their audience gets exposed to movies. You made it sound like their audience has an interest in one type of movie, but as a RLM fan myself I can tell you I listen to many film podcasts with many approaches and focuses, such as yours! 🙂

Thank you for this episode and putting some films on my radar I’d never heard mentioned before.
