Fassbinder is famous as one of the young founders of the New German cinema. Revitalizing a nation both in socio-economic and artistic decline, Fassbinder (along with Herzog, Schlondorff and others) dove into angsty, soul-searching films that rang true with his disenfranchised generation. Though he died at the age of 37, he had made 40 films in a career spanning only 15 years.
