And, hear me out: XXX: State of the Union is EXCELLENT (esp. compared to the first one). It’s essentially a remake of Seven Days In May, where General Willem DaFoe plans a coup to usurp Peacenik President Peter Strauss. But, and here’s the genius part: the movie pushes that plot to the background in favor of Ice Cube and Xibit mean-mugging nerds and blowing shit up.

It’s also cynically subversive in the same way that Shooter is.

Ice Cube: “The fate of the free world is in the hands of a bunch of hustlers and thieves!”
Scott Speedman: “Why should tonight be any different?”
Xibit: “Mount up! Assholes and Elbows, Gentlemen!”
