BP Movie Journal 5/28/20
In this episode, Tyler and David discuss the movies they’ve been watching, including:
L’IMPORTANT C’EST D’AIMER
CARO DIARIO
A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN
ON THE RECORD
DEATH BECOMES HER
SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS
TOMMASO
THE STANDOFF AT SPARROW CREEK
THE LOVEBIRDS
TALES FROM THE CRYPT: DEMON KNIGHT
TALES FROM THE HOOD
THE VAST OF NIGHT
A NEW LEAF
I liked Sparrow Creek a whole lot more than Seven Psychopaths. I don’t mind a first-time director imitating Reservoir Dogs. I think I’ve come to appreciate “the classical unities” more as time has gone on, even if I still don’t think The Tempest ranks highly among Shakespeare’s plays. Seven Psychopaths reminded me of some of what I disliked about “Community”, in which there’s lots of bad writing hanging a lampshade on how cliched the writing is, as if that excuses it.
Yeah, that’s a pet peeve of mine too.
