In discussing the ending of Howard Hawks’s RED RIVER (which certainly goes in a direction that feels counterintuitive, but is very much in keeping with Hawks’s ethos), film critic Dan Sallitt said, “I can’t value the dramatic structure of the film more than I value Hawks.” Similarly, I can’t value anything about Ant-Man – its place in the Marvel universe, the character’s history, or the wishes of the producers – more than I value Edgar Wright.
“What if CANCER directed a movie?”
David! You missed the opportunity to make a Zack Snyder joke.
Is the show going to be on Stitcher again at some stage? Looks like all the shows have been taken down.
Good question! I’ll find out!
– David
Hi Maika. We anticipate the entire catalog reappearing on Stitcher in the coming days as they download and process the newly transcoded episodes. Thanks for your patience.
Thanks guys. Appreciated.
I saw Obvious Child at the Wisconsin Film Festival in April and it was my definitely my favorite of the fest; also my favorite of the year so far.
I have no attachment to Beat the Geeks, but after that Ang Lee joke I feel like I owe Paul Goebel a few bucks.
I use the BeyondPod Android app to download and listen to the podcast and this episode did the same thing people were complaining about last week. If I try to back it up to hear something and when I paused it, it repeats a random point.
Thanks, Philip. Can you email me about this?
– David
Oh man, thank you for saying something. I’ve been catching up on episodes all day and just got to the Doug Jones one and started experiencing this, and thought it was a problem with me (I’m using the Podcast Addict app on Android, and thought it was that, but I’m having the problem playing it in any Android app and wasn’t having problems with even the episode before that). I checked episode 375 and it had the same problem, haven’t checked 376 yet.
I checked other podcasts and they don’t seem to have the same problem, so I guess I’m just happy I’m not going insane.
These issues should be fixed now. If you re-download and still have the same issues, please either comment here or email me. Thanks for your patience!

Still having troubles. It seems like any app I use to try to play any of the 3 most recent episodes is still having difficulties (tried with Podcast Addict, Audipo, and Double Twist). I jump forward and it just keeps repeating parts from early on in the podcast, and if I jump to the very end it just keeps playing past the end time of the episode.
Weirdly, if I download them off the website and play them in VLC player on my computer, I can skip around just fine, but the second I put the files on my phone I have problems. I guess for now I’ll just listen on my computer.
We’ll pass this along to our tech guys.
Thanks.
-Tyler
Thank you all very much for your patience and many thanks to those of you who commented and helped us isolate the skipping problem. As of Saturday, June 7th at 6pm PST, the entire Battleship Pretension catalog has been re-encoded to correct it. We did not want to force everyone to re-download episodes. However, all downloads moving forward should work normally. If you are experiencing the problem in a previously downloaded file, deleting it and re-downloading it should correct it. Once, again thank you all very much for your patience. If you experience any further issues, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] or http://www.art19.com/contact.
