Though well I do agree that there is an over reaction to how Black Widow us portrayed, I can’t help believe that some of then things that Wedon has said calling out other people for sexist movies sorta makes him a lightning rod for such accusations.

And it’s fine, even good, for him to be a lightning rod. The problem isn’t that his work doesn’t stand up to the scrutiny. It’s that his critics lack the discernment and reason to see that it does.

Regarding the necessity of “keeping up” with all the MCU movies to know or understand the significance of what’s going on, there’s always the third option, where you see every movie but forget damn near everything about them, and don’t register at all that the helicarrier reemerging in AGE OF ULTRON is of any significance at all.

I also have no idea what’s going on with the infinity stones. I wouldn’t even know what they were called, or that they mattered, if there weren’t a few dozen people on Twitter talking about them.

I also cannot name a single villain from the MCU except Ultron, Red Skull, and Loki. But that’s just because they’re all terrible.

But I liked AGE OF ULTRON. General coherence is a little overrated as experiential aspects of movies go, and years of comic book reading made it very easy to just accept things about continuity you don’t understand and just move right along.

David, you described shawarma as ‘roast chicken’, which is incorrect. Shawarma is traditionally made with lamb, but it can be any kind of meat; it’s the method of preparation that makes it shawarma. It’s placed on a rotating spit, grilled and shaved.

I know this because I’m from Amsterdam, where, thanks to our large Turkish population, we have a healthy shawarma culture.

I do not believe that Tyler (or anyone) would not enjoy properly made shawarma, shaved in front of your eyes like in a good shawarma place.

    • Battleship Pretension says:

Thanks for the clarification! I appreciate it!

But I am almost certain Tyler would hate it.
