Addresses some of what you talk about regarding adapting comics into movies — Watchmen, specifically. This little video only gets at some of the meta-comics elements in Watchmen that just don’t make it into the film, but the ones it points out are worth noting. I actually kind of enjoy the Watchmen movie, for what it is, but it’s almost more of a live-action illustration of the source material, rather than an adaptation. Agreed that the Bob Dylan montage intro is the most successful bit of actual adaptation.
Love the podcast, keep it up. Just to weigh in, I greatly enjoy the Comic-Con episodes, too. One of these years I hope to make it to the BP meetup!
When you were talking about returning from Comic Con I thought a SNL “The Californians” sketch was about to break out. I guess that is really how conversations happen out there.
