I have actually noticed the change in sound quality in the new recording space, and it did kind of bug me. I am a musician who records music so maybe I’m more aware and sensitive than most, which is why I didn’t comment before. Glad you guys are on it though. Good sound quality is an essential part of making a good podcast (which you guys certainly do)
The Arc of Seduction was my favorite Indiana Jones subtitle
I haven’t seen Rachel Getting Married, so my pick for greatest wedding movie goes to Marcin Wrona’s “Demon,” which uses the wedding as part of a metaphor for Poland’s refusal to grapple with its complicity in the Holocaust. It’s a great movie.
P.S. – RIP Marcin Wrona
Sorry/not really sorry to be that person, but the phrase “get me to the church on time” comes from My Fair Lady, not Oliver! (and of course Bowie). I just felt compelled to correct because of a very brief My Fair Lady-obsessive phase I had in high school – gotta stay loyal.
the “perfectly viable groomsman” that never ends up with the female lead is called ‘the baxter’ (from the Michael Showalter movie). that kind of character comes up so much in movies, it’s nice to have shorthand name for him/her.
happy to hear scott and julie on the show again!
I’m only a few years younger than you guys, but I’ve never seen Uncle Buck. And I’ve only seen parts of Planes, Trains etc. I have, of course, seen all of Home Alone multiple times.
Relieved to learn that I haven’t quite risen to the level of BP luminary. Always got to have something to shoot for!
The Celebration is a great movie, but the celebration in question is the father’s birthday party. Love the podcast!
Jesus, you’re right! Well, it’s been like fifteen years since I saw it, in my defense. Thanks!
