I watched “Death Becomes Her” when Blank Check was doing their Zemeckis miniseries. And if you were surprised at Zemeckis getting cynical, you REALLY should watch “Used Cars”.
A possible compromise watch for the two you: Dan Sallitt’s “Fourteen”. It’s all about a years-long friendship between two women, but it’s mostly restrained and contains things like a long shot of train station which would appeal only to cinephiles & critics. It was released to “virtual cinemas” during the recent pandemic, so it won’t be anyone’s nostalgia watch.
That sounds good!
