With the exception of The Witch, I wouldn’t be surprised to see all those Best Pic nominees in the same category for the Oscars too. Would have expected more BP-friendly fare like Little Sister, The Nice Guys, The Edge of Seventeen, or Love & Friendship on here.
Sorry, not trying to knock the choices. I guess it just goes to show just how solid the good movies this year have been that most people seem to agree on the biggest ones. That Best Supporting actor category is at a three-way tie right now for me between Ali, Ehrenreich,
and Goodman.
Yeah, this is maybe the most conventional our nominations have ever been, which is kind of a bummer. On the other hand, as you said, it could be seen as a reflection of how undeniable the quality of these films are.
Let’s just take it like that.
