I’m guessing you’ve seen worse movies than these, and like the Razzies are deliberately tackling more well known films (even if not seeking out punching-bags like them). The only film on both your list and Metacritic’s list* of the 15 films with the lowest scores was Rebel Moon (5 of the films on your list, including that, have a score below 50). Rotten Tomatoes’ 10 lowest scored films with theatrical releases** has no overlap at all. Admittedly, the latter tend to be obscure enough I hadn’t heard of many of them, but if a critic sees a lot of new movies they’ll come across more examples of genuine incompetence that just don’t work at all, rather than falling short of expectations.

I can’t speak for the other contributors but I wasn’t dishonest in my submissions for any reason. Maybe that’s why only two of my nominees made the list. But my guess it that the domineering impulse is less about targeting well known films and more about being forgiving toward lower budget/lower profile films.

Also, I’ll use this space to say that I thought 65 was a pretty decent movie.

That might be the first positive take on 65 I’ve heard. I know some such takes exist, but (like Winnie the Pooh: Blood & Honey) I just hadn’t exposed myself to them.

I’m not saying it’s a revelation or anything but I just think it delivers on a legitimately cool premise and employs some ingenious touches, like the fight with the dinosaur in the pitch black cave being captured on the 3D imager thing.
