Soggy bread doesn’t sound that good.. but! I have no idea how widespread this is but in Finland it’s very common to serve a kind of bread cake at birthdays or graduations. Usually you make it with toast, you moisten those lightly with milk and layer those on top of each other. In between the layers you can smear cream cheese and salted meat or what have you. Spread some more cream cheese on top and decorate the top of the cake with the kind of stuff you’d put between a sandwich, ham slices, cherry tomatoes, parsley, etc. It’s the most delicious thing in the world.
