A thing to think about in the never ceasing abortion debate. Bodily autonomy is a big deal in the laws of the US. No one is required to give of themselves to keep someone alive. If you were the only bone marrow or kidney match for someone else, you cannot be compelled to keep them alive. How can you expect a woman to not have the same choice with a fetus?
And here’s the US data for the pregnancy mortality rate. https://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/maternalinfanthealth/pmss.html
Again, why should a woman be forced to face the chance of death to maybe keep a potential life?
This doesn’t even show what permenant harm can be done to a woman by giving birth. Stroke, life altering pelvic damage, etc. Why does the existing life not have priority over the existing one?
*over the potential life?
I normally am interested when you guys talk politics, but there hasn’t been a new argument in the pro life/pro choice debate in well over 40 years.
I am really curious to know what movie you were talking about though, David. The one where your older friend said it was homophobic, but you didn’t think so.
When you do that episode on exposition, take a look at the first 18 minutes of the Wachowski’s SPEED RACER. The way it sets up the entire complicated backstory and emotional history for the Racer family in the context of a race where Speed is looking to break his dead brother Rex’s track record is amazingly well done.
Thanks to David, I had to look up the Hit by a Bus Supercut: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmYrWXhFf4c
The series finale for the Good Place was fantastic. I saw the twist coming miles away and I still loved it, because the execution was just great. When Bambajan came in with the book. So good. And yes, it answers a lot of foundational questions, but more questions are raised, and I see a lot of places for the show to go.
As an aside, have you guys ever watched Garth Merenghi’s Darkplace? It’s one of my favorite tv comedies, and it’s only six episodes so it’s not too much of a commitment!
While I’ll continue to respectfully disagree with you (and everybody else) about The Good Place, I’m a big Darkplace fan.

Reading about the twist makes me depressed for where popular taste is at
