Thought I’d throw out some of my individual achievements for 2012, which I think was a really good real for film. In fact, I think the last two years have been really solid. These aren’t necessarily my favorite achievements of the year just ones I think are worth noting.

Director: David Ayer (End of Watch)
Actress: Marion Cotillard (Rust and Bone)
Actor: Mads Mikkelsen (A Royal Affair)
Supp Actress: Cynthia Watros (Electrick Children)
    Supp Actor: Nate Parker (Arbitrage)
Writing: Stephen of Being a Wallflower (Stephen Chbosky)

Stating the obvious, but Emmanuelle Riva should have won best actress. I’m very pleased Christoph Waltz won supporting. I definitely agree when you say Jean-Louis Trintignant was snubbed and glad Steven mentions Mads Mikkelsen. He had a great year with A Royal Affair and Jagten, in which he was as good just absolutely incredible.

It’s a shame Alexandre Desplat didn’t win anything, he had a great year too, especially enjoyed his work on Moonrise Kingdom and Reality. Speaking of Reality excellent directing. And one last I’ll mention is Min-soo Jo (newcomer) in Kim Ki-Duk’s Pietà, absolutely fantastic work. Loved every single moment of her on screen, great presence.
