Good episode — I’m liking this podcast quite a bit so far!

After hearing you guys (mainly Paul) talk about The Mindy Project, I’m wondering if I have even seen the same show. I suppose that what I’ve thought of as muddled and confused decision-making and second-guessing might actually be careful retooling? I think a lot of people bashed Up All Night for similar retooling methods (although I would have loved to have seen the final Frankenstein’s monster of a reiteration before it was cancelled when it was just Maya Rudolph and a baby hanging around). But as for The Mindy Project, too many of the jokes fall flat — don’t get me wrong, the show has 30 jokes-per-minute, but the jokes that don’t work are aggressively unfunny (not just not funny; double negatives!) Couple that with a weird smug twee sensibility and count me out. The Indiana Jones bit was pretty hilarious though.

As for Glee, I thought the Unique reveal was incredibly dumb. On the episode when the secret crush conceit is introduced, jock guy runs into Unique in the hallway and is all like “uhhh, you’re not a girl! You’re a boy!” Thus several episodes were spent and a good portion of plot-time dedicated towards this secret crush only to reveal: “Ta da! It’s Unique! And we all learned a very valuable lesson this episode, didn’t we?”
