Hey guys,
I know you don’t like saying stuff like “the location is like another character.” But I feel like every other week one of you ends up saying something along the lines of “I don’t like saying the location is like a character, but…” and then insert a comment that essentially gives your example as an exception.
I recognize that you don’t like cliche turns of phrase: neither do I. But just call it what it is! Sometimes a location is truly another character in the film, and that’s ok.
Best Director: Alex Ross Perry- Her Smell
Best Actor: Matthew Mcconaughey- The Beach Bum
Best Actress: Florence Pugh- Midsommar
Best Supporting Actor: Chris Cooper- Little Women
Best Supporting Actress: Julia Fox- Uncut Gems
Best Screenplay: Uncut Gems
Wildcard: Best Editing- Little Women
I tried to do the same thing as you guys did where I excluded some of the more obvious choices, but in some cases I just had to go with what I thought was the best. Still have a few more films to get to such as Ash is Purest White, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, and A Hidden Life
Great list! I still need to see Beach Bum and Little Women.
