Episode 686: The Best Summer Movie Preview We Could Manage
In this episode, Tyler and David are joined by Scott Nye and Julie Sesnovich to assemble some sort of preview of what movie lovers have to look forward to this summer
Oh, and here’s the cake recipe Julie recommends.
Regarding Mulan, the more realistic approach might be good for the Chinese market, where more realistic Mulan movies have been the norm. I remember the press screening of Favreau’s Jungle Book where we were told that it was more of a new take on Kipling’s books than a remake. That turned out to be false, but with Mulan, I really hope that that is what they’re going for: not so much a remake as another big Mulan movie, that just happens to exist as a result of nostalgia for Disney’s first take on Mulan.
Regarding The Painted Bird, doing it in Interslavic makes sense: the novel is set in an unspecified Slavic country.
