It doesn’t excuse the overly white cast of Gods of Egypt, but I believe because the picture was filmed in Australia that a certain number of Australians were required to be in the cast. Again, not an excuse, but perhaps helps explain the admittedly poor decision to only cast one person of color in a significant role.
I haven’t seen the movie myself, but I’ve always wanted to. It looks like the kind of inspired lunacy that we only get every once in a while at a big budget studio level.
