I watched All Quiet last night, and by default it was subtitled rather than dubbed. I did find it odd that those subtitles would periodically say “In English” as if I didn’t know what language it was set to translate to. As for the merits of the film, I didn’t care for the adaptational choices vs the Lewis Milestone version. I should also note that I’d seen Berger’s TV work in shows like Deutschland 83, but didn’t recall his name from that.
