River of Grass is my favorite Kelly Reichardt film, because it’s a funnier version of Badlands (which I prefer to most of Malick’s later films). Sun Don’t Shine is a less funny version of that, but still pretty good. Gun Crazy is excellent.
Since I recently watched Furiosa it occurs to me that the film feints in the direction of something like that (although law enforcement has been absent since the original Mad Max), but nobody is watching Furiosa who didn’t watch Fury Road and thus everyone knows that’s the movie where she actually goes on the run.
