BP Movie Journal 4/25/19

In this episode, Tyler and David discuss the movies they’ve been watching, including:
CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA
LITTLE
BREAKTHROUGH
THE MAN WHO KILLED DON QUIXOTE
ALI: FEAR EATS THE SOUL
WILD ROSE
KALIFORNIA
EL DESENCANTO
I SURVIVED I KISSED DATING GOODBYE
ALL IS TRUE
DEKALOG I
AVENGERS: ENDGAME
A SEPARATION
KNOCK DOWN THE HOUSE
I re-watched Big for the first time since I was… little, and was shocked that it got away with one “fuck” and a PG rating.
Yeah, that used to happen more. Spaceballs and Eight Men Out are both PG and have a “fuck.” Oh and 18 Again! has nudity!

I thought Olivier Assayas’ “Personal Shopper” bungled every one of its genres, but Clouds of Sils Maria worked much better for me. Perhaps I was predisposed to prefer a Juliette Binoche vehicle due to Certified Copy & Three Colors: Blue. I also thought I’d note that the blockbuster film Moretz’ character appears in (and which Stewart’s character defends) is clearly an ersatz version of the X-Men, and as a traitor she would be analogous to Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique.
